A Guide to Facebook for Moms

but it’s not just for Moms …

At the risk of a backlash from the web community, what follows is a simple guide to Facebook for Moms. If you are an experienced Facebook user, then i urge you to read the reasons why I think this is an important post to write (a big part of the issues the older generation experience with Facebook is that they simply do not know where the buttons are). If you are here to learn how to use Facebook, then may I welcome you and express the hope that this guide helps you to navigate a fairly complex, but extremely fun, website.

Often the buttons are tricky to find, so hopefully the information below will not be stating the obvious. Also included is a short bit of contextual information which tells you how the feature works. We’ll cover all the fundamentals with simple step-by-step instructions, so that you and your family can stay in touch and enjoy sharing time, space, presence and moments with each other, even if you cannot be together in person.

What Is Facebook All About?

Facebook is all about staying in touch with friends, and it is based on the simple premise that what is going on in the lives of those closest to you, is probably the most important news in your life. Facebook is structured in such a way to turn every single aspect of your social network into a system of mini ‘news stories’, posted by the people you care about. The way to access these stories is to create a Facebook profile and connect with your friends. As soon as you have done this, you will start to receive ‘status updates’ in your ‘news feed’. You will be able to interact with these updates, by leaving comments for your friends and family, and they will also be able to leave messages for you on ‘your wall’. You can also leave messages for others on their ‘wall’ and you can also alert people to your messages or photos, by using a simple system called ‘tagging’.

Create Your Facebook Profile

To create a Facebook Profile you will need to register an account. The sign-up process is straightforward and similar to other websites.
